Sofie and Tshepo
Day 1- it was nice to meet each other and we had a certaindiscussion about these two contries, the similarities and the differences. Carl Gustav, this is the king of Sweden and the queen is Sylvia. I told them that in South Africa we are ruled by a president called Jacob Zuma and South Africa is a republic country.
Short speech about these two countries
In Sweden grade 3 is the highest grade. It is funny to us South Africans because grade 3 is one of the lowest in primary. In South Africa you are forced to go to the university when you done your matrick but in Sweden you go there only if you want or like. Here in South Africa all cultures have two names accept English but there, some of the Swedish people have more than 4 names that is surprising. It was cool at Bolivia Lodge to meet such people. They are friendly and interesting!! We made friends easily with them but only English combined us, because if it was non English I don´t know! There also, came the most famous gospel singer in South Africa calledWihie Mashaba,it was nice meting her and we also shot photos with her, talking to her. Her elder brother and younger brother were also there.
Day 2
Firs we meet each other at the fair. We said hi to everyone andchosed our buddies. Then we started to walk around. After we walked around we ate some corn. We got some information from a company called Eskom. After that we looked at some animals. We saw the sheep, the cows and the statues of lion, cow, and all the big five in South Africa. We boughtsomethings, in Soth Africa we use rands and they use kronor. We also saw cars, we saw cars that are supplied by the Hundaicompany and the cars from China which are supplied by a company called Ssang young. We really enjoyed looking andindentifying them, we were also much closer to Jacaranda fmand Capricorn fm and we all know that these are the most beloved radio stations in South Africa. We also got into a certain station, that station is talking and supplying the South African staff for example, there are papers on the wall that shows the South African national symbols.
Day: Thursday
They got into the school and got inside the garden and check the plants. After that we all had lunch, then they played soccer, 0-0, Lekota and Jälla, in the soccer game Emelie got injured, they helped her and the game was over. After that they got inside the car and went to the hotel.
Day: Friday
They got into our school and they got inside the staff room. They waited and waited. For incase Sussie and Sofie looked and identified the staff room and its members. Some learners at Lekota helped to cook the food for the learners from Jälla. Before they ate there was a special occasion where we shared our cultural events. They danced their traditional dace and we also danced ours. Jevida Monypao was doing/read a poem, a poem about the traditional pot and then Regina and Sibasaperformed the same but not about the pot, about Africa, there was music system, we had fun, ate went home.
Day: Saturday
Polokwane museums
From home, we got into Bakone Malapa air museum. It is situated approximately 9 km south of Polokwane CBD. We learnt many things there (traditional and modern) they showed us things that were used during ancient times. They showed us things that people of old times used, such as a pot that was used to drink water (sego in Sepedi) and a product that was used to serve people (tray) you put a pot that carries porriege, which is a Thepa, and the one that carries something to eat with porriege (hogohe) and water. That’s low it worlds. They showed where the wifes of the king live, where children of the king live, they also showed us famous traditional games wichare moruba and morabaraba. These are the most interesting games in our culture. We got into our transport, and we got going to the Irish museum.

We learned about Chiefs, one of them is Kgosi Malebogo. Day: Sunday
We got out of homes and we cathed up the transport at school. It was a wonderful journey. We went to Bolivia Lodge to pick up our buddies. And we mixed up! We had fun, we can´t wait to get to church it was fantastic. We also saw a bus, it was written the following words: JESUS CAN FIX BROKEN LIVES. We were VIPs. When we must separate we were about to cry. That’s our report. We hope that you going to enjoy it.
The last day
Firstly we got (South Africans) to their hotel and played some games, me and my best friend Sofie participated, it was cool. We went on a game drive. Secondly, there arrived three cars, that will take us there (at the game drive). Those cars are strong enough to get into the wild, and also they are green. We saw kodo, they feed on grass. We saw impalas, we took photos, it was interesting at the game reserve. Let me say the animals we saw are as follows we saw a:

Lions, they eat meat only.

Zebras, they told us that their stripes are like our finger prints.

After that we went for lunch and we ate three meals.

After that we went to swim, but anyway the food was delicious. We were went for swimming, I doubt at first but I got over it. It was fantastic.

Polokwane Show!
It has been a nice day but a little rainy. Me and charlie have walked on the show in the rain, we have talked about the weather in South Africa and compared it to Swedens weather. Today we got some information how to became a police officer in south Africa. Me and Charlie have spent the day to know each other little better because yesterday was just hi then we had to go eat dinner. Later on this day we all went ona electricity presentation abd it was quite interesting to listen to. The whole day has been a great day, the only down side is that it rained a couple hours but when the sun came and showed itself it became an wonderful day! Both me and Charlie are a bit tired but tomorrow we will be energized and ready to go to the snake park
Second day with our gest from Sweden at Polokwane show
I was with my friend Albin Södrén where we started ourfriendship by introducing ourselves to each other and it has been a quite nice day because he is such a nice gentlemen whit no problem at all. Then we were talking more about the temperature conditions because it was a little rainy and that’s I learned from him that in Sweden its much colder when he compares it with here, he told me that the temperature at much time be at between 3 and 10C and that’s where I noticed why there is snow in much time there I started to ask him about the difference we sees from here and hes own country and he said to me “Where is really great because is for me first time been in this kind of place”, and I was happy because he was smiling showing that he´s really happy. Then when we were still communicating we went from one of the buildings in that yard where we were told about careers we could follow in the future especially been a police man where they told us what they would need from us if we would like to become a police in the future As we were going we saw some big machines motors (tractors) , fact where he told me that many of them he at one´s drove them and he said to me that he will be happy if we could also have a chance to come at his place (Sweden) so that he could also show me some of the best things he likes about he´s country After all that we went back to where they said we could meet at all of us to have our lunch, then when time for lunch come and we all ate and after all that we were asked by the Eskom people waiting and advice as more about electricity and telling us the bad things that could happen to us as citizen’s if we use illegal electricity it was jus good been with him, he is funny, he like things because every good things he saw he wanted to have a picture of it so that he it will always remind him about South Africa. I also felt good when we were taking pictures ant it can also help me someday that there was this person from Sweden. Miss Shokane took us to go and see some of the domestic animals and I was happy because he knew many of them and I helped where I can and he also done the same to me, and after that we went to make some notes about our awesome day we had. I really adore him with the bottom of my heart because I would know it I would have ad any opportunity like this in my life so I wish if it could also be counted from the group that will be going to Sweden in coming year(s)
3rd day with our guests in snake park
We arrived at the snake park around 10:30 in the morning then that’s where we started recognizing each other and talked about how we had our night and for all of us it was awesome. Then they called us all and gave us a message to go through to make our partnership have a good progress with no doubts aside. We started chatting and went through all of the way to the fences and that’s where we saw many kinds of birds like peacock, different macaws with different colors, the cockatoos and we also saw many monkeys that we really liked and one of our gest where giving it them bananas Then we continued watching other animals like goats, horses witch the Sweden people really like them most of them says that they don’t like spiders because they are afraid and sensitive and it’s a very dangerous animal compared to snakes. We saw the eleektuparrot that were good for everybody to watch because they can even talk when you communicated with them and Albin was taking pictures of all the animals that he liked the most. We went to the snake area and some of them are beautiful but dangerous so we were also taking pictures of them, we saw cobras, python and others. After all that we went to have our lunch
4th day been with my buddy from Sweden the report of how we spend our day in my school.
Our guest arrived at our school at 08:10 in the morning and all our schoolmates were really happy to see people like them so everyone was happy and we were still in the assembly when they arrived. One of our province in circuit women also welcomed them with love and my friend tells me that when they said they must introduce themselves to us, he just felt like he´s place The time I walked in to 10As classroom I got introduced to my buddy. After the short break we started to work in the garden. I started to use the rake to take away all the grass from the plot. I went to the garden with one of my schoolmate and I got my buddy Albin working and I just helped where I can and after that we were just talking about the different of the school and the grade 11A learners were taking pictures with them and it was really fun. Today we never spend so much time together because I was a little busywith some school things and I then we just went to leave for lunch. After the long break Charlie introduced me to his friends, and everyone was taking pictures and having a good time. After that I went to the garden and Charlie was left in the classroom.
7th day Lekota secondary school Thursday
This day it didn’t happen so much. I was at the garden from where we got there to lunch and water the plants. After lunch we were going to the football field and played. First the girls played a match of 20 minutes. After that match it was the boys turn to play a math and it was a lot of fun. I haven’t played football seriously in like 6 years, and it was so hard to play against this people they are so good. I Charlie wasn’t available that day, I went to a soccer school competition where I haven’t had time to be with my buddy.
8th day last day at leota secondary school Friday
At our school there was a small good bye for our guest and it was just unhappy moment because it was for the last day we were to see them and before the ceremony started they introduced all the visitors to the whole school and also a group of Lekota school that spend all days with them. Then they called some of the learners from Lekota who would like to dance and many of them volunteered and went to the stage and started dancing using their best skills and styles and it was perfect watching them it was a great day but to say goodbye to all was hard. It was a great ceremony I liked it a lot. I have never seen that kind of goodbye in my entire life. We were singing some song of the Swedish culture like Staffan andSmå grodorna (little frogs). Also our school learners some song of our culture and some wedding dances and it was a very fantastic day.
9th day (Bakone Malapa and the Irish house museum) Saturday
We arrived at Bakone malapa open air museum and it was nice and hot. I had a little bit of an headache and didn’t feel so good. But I was in the group and followed the guide. The guide was talking about how a village could look like and what tools they were using. They showed us more things that were used by our grannies in the older days and also showed how the modern culture modified them. They showed us the meeting place where the men could gather and talk about problems they have in maybe in their area and they showed us some huts that they were using in te older days they also showed us some of the clothing that they used and how they made them, also all the volunteered were allowed to wear them and it was realy fun.
The Irish house museum
It was a good museum and it had a lot of nice pictures of back in the days. I didn’t learn so much from the guide I learned more things from my buddy Charles. It was a good museum as my buddy already said and we also saw some of the things that were used in the older days like a camber(bowl) that was used to sile the gold In the water and I also learned more about the history of Pietersburg who discovered it and when and some information about a men who fought for freedom inSouthafrica and Albin was also taking some notes about some those information.
Last day with our visitors from Sweden at Wild things Charles
It was just a bad day because my buddy Albin wasn’t there with me because he was ill so I just spend this day talking about how he may be feeling but there was nothing I could have done. We just met our buddies at wild things lodge and that’s where the truck came to take us and took us to the wild where we saw many different types of animals and the most part I got been perfect for everyone was when we went to the place where lions live and that’s where where we saw a 5-6 year old lion but it was huge like a 50 year old lion and the driver was explaining to everything about those animals, like zebras how they differ , what they eat and sorts of stuff. before I forget, there was this time we had our lunch and eat those food were delicious and I hope everyone enjoyed them and after we finished eating everyone went to a swimming pool but I didn’t swim because im not good with that so I went to a gym room and I learned my pare with these machines and at around 3´oclock the trucks took us back to the wild that’s where we went back to the lion places as I already talked about it

2/3 Show day!
Today we have visit a "market place" we have watch men pull heavy things like monster trucks, we have look at cows and goats, Hugh differencebetween our animals. These animals have exteriors that protect them from the sun, like long ears and some cows had a hump on their back where I think they saved water in.
We have tasted a South African meal "Corn withcheese and spices". It was so tasty! We were also meeting a company, Eksom. They learned us about electricity and we have learned allot about the country.

One of the most popular person in South Africa is Nelson Mandela, he is the person who was in prison for 27 years because he fought against apartheid.
3/3 Snake Day!
Today we have visit two different parks, almost like nature reserves. The first park had differentanimals like fish, monkeys, and different breeds of birds, horses, one alligator, lizards and goads. I feel sorry for these animals, because they looked very sad. The horses’ didn’t have their hooves cut, in the drinking water for them, agales were growing. In Sweden we have a "unwritten law" that if you don't think that the water is clean enough to drink it by your own, it's to dirty for the animals. And they didn’t have hay, no protection from the sun. It's a Hugh differs from Sweden. The animals in Sweden must have some kind of roof for protection from rain and sun.
The cages weren’t clean and when it's for touristsand a visitor come and sees that unhappy animals they get disappointed. Trying to stir up the animals, but they are just getting more stressed.This will lead to problem behaviors. It's sad to see it, and what it will lead to. In Sweden they would have lost the animals.
In the other park they had 50 different birds, peacocks, eagles, pigeons, parrots and Blue crane, which is the National bird. It was a beautifulview in the park, green grass, colorful birds and waterfalls. It was beautiful but had a very bad smell.
We both think the other park is better for the animals, because they have more space and it was better hygiene there.
7/3 Soccer!
Today Rebecca has cooking fish soup with rice and vegetables. She really enjoys cooking! Alfred had lessons Sepedi (home language) and math. Then we were watering the garden.
Then we had a break and free times with our partners. We started a long conversation about Sweden and South Africa and how we are living and how it looks in Sweden. We were also learning each other some words.

After lunch we played soccer Sweden VS South Africa first it was the girls who was playing, it was extremely warm and all the girls from Sweden played it was so funny! After the girls had played it was the boy’s time.
8/3 Culture day
Today we had a Culture day, we had a very long day and it was so funny.
It was raining in the morning and it was very cold.
Alfred had a test this morning about laws.
After that we all together played, singed, dancing and wrote some poems.
The Swedish people represented their culture, they singed songs called “små grodorna”, “Nu grönskar det” etc and ended with the Swedish National song. And the Africans were represented their culture, they did it with speakers, songs and dancing. We enjoyed it very much.
We recognize that it’s a huge difference between our cultures.
And it was time to say goodbye for the Swedish people, because it was the last day in school. We took a lot of photos, the African classmates even cried.
We had a very nice and lovely day!
9/3 Museum
We have visit two museums today, one about African culture life and one about Apartheid.
We were enjoying their culture and see how it has grow. And how it was, how they were hunting, how they lived. It was very exciting to see. They were also showing us how to make your own fire.
At the other museum we learned about apartheid.
King Albert Luthuli was the first president of ANC.
Nelson Mandela was in prison for 27 years, on an island called “The Robben Island”
He was getting released in 1990, and became the first black president in South Africa (1994).
A girl on the Museum was also talking about how the people had lived in Polokwane.
We both enjoyed the Museum a lot and though it was really interesting. We were discussing thewhole day about the two museums and the differences between our cultures.

Day 1: 2/3-13
Unfortunalty my buddy wasn’t here today, but instead I joined Veronika and her Buddy.
Today we learned a little bit about Southafrica at Polokwane Show. I´ve learned all about their national flower, animal, fish and tree. Which is:
Flower: Protea
Animal: Impala
Fish: Blue crane
Tree: Yellow Wood
They also had a national fish but I can´t remember the name of it. I´ve also learned a little bit about Nelson Mandela and that he was the first black president here I Southafrica.
We also looked at some cars like monster trucks and ordinary cars like Volvos.
Then we saw some pictures of “The big Five” and what they stand for an so on. The animals of the big five are Rhino, cheetah, elephant, buffalo and Lion.
Then we were at a conference about electricity. They use coal for electricity because they have access to it here, in Swedenthere’s a lot of water, and therefore we use it for electricity back in Sweden. They also told us that people are stealing electricity and therefore they try to stop it by putting up a meter. It will show how much electricity that has been used in that area. This is to protect the substainable development.

Today is our first day as buddies here in Lekota high. The Swedish learners arrived and they were introduced to our teachers firstly. Later on they came to our classes. The lekotalearners were very glad to have such visitors as we are not used to be missed (meaning it is very rare to see black and whites in the same place) then we attended in our classes and we were all participating as the other learners made them feel at home. Later on we went to our school garden, we were verybusy there, we planted and were busy digging holes and we were tired, then we went for lunch that was around 12:00 pm. The gardening took about 2 hours. South Africa and Sweden are two different countries when it comes to farming. In SouthAfrica we mostly plant with our own hands and in Sweden they plant mostly with machines since its big fields, so in Sweden it´s a bit easy for them to plant. We also took pictures for the project. We had a lot of fun and learned a lot from each other. Agriculture is a very interesting and nice subject according to both Swedes and South Africans.
Day 7, 8 and 9:
7: We played soccer in the afternoon. Since the gardening was finished. It was the Southafrica girls vs. Swedish girls. The boys were playing afterwards. If it were in Sweden we would probably be mixed, boys and girls but we do have differentcultures. Here they separate girls and boys.
8: This day was culture day. We performed the Swedish culture and the South African culture. The Swedish learners and the teachers were performing traditional songs and dance. Then the South Africans performed cultural dances and also performed poems and poetries and we called it a day.
9: we went to “Bakone Malapa” museum in Polokwane and we were taught of the “sepedu culture” in Limpopo, how they lived, how they were dressed, their weapons and theirprotections strategies. We also went to the Irish House museum and we learned about our historical heroes and it is indeed a hournor to view pictures of people like Nelson Mandela, Walter Sisulu and people like Oliver Tambo and Winnie Madikizela Mandela, yeah, we have learned a lot about South Africa. And also about apartheid, from its start 1948 until it stopped in 1994.
It was really interesting to learn and see how the Africans lived back in the days, since it was a lot different in Sweden. The Swedes lived mostly at farms with cows, pigs, cheeps, horses, chickens and so on. They used them for meat, milk products, cotton etc. In South Africa they mostly hunted for food, farming were pretty much the same. They houses were different as well. The South Africans lived in shacks or huts, while in Sweden bricks or tree houses were very common. The South Africans settled near mountains to protect the women and children whenever the war came. In Sweden there was never a need for protections against war. It was very common to live on the countryside with horses as transport.
Day 10 and 11:
10: Today we went to church. They were singing and dancing and we got welcomed by the bishop at that church pastorKoma. Unfortunately we had tio leave early. We spent only an hour. In Swedish ceremonies the priest wares a gaon and they sing from a book and its usually slow songs as well, here they sing happy songs and the bishop was wearing a normal outfit, not a gaon.
11: this day we went on Safari. We saw different types of animals, lions, hyenas, zebras, buffalos, impalas, monkeys, snakes, giraffes and much more. We got the chance to touch and hold some lion babies. Their teeth and claws were really strong, even though they were babies. We learned about zebras and that they could take the newborn back in when giving birth, and that they can eat their own babies if there is lack of food. It was a really interesting and a wonderful experience that we will never forget.

Simone and Dolly Discuss the report

On second march 2013 we took a trip to Polokwane showground. When we arrived there it was very rainy so we decided to stay under a roof. After we took a walk and we got to South African Defense Force, they showed us some cocaine and told us that is was illegal. In the SADF tent, we got into the military health service, we learnt about wounds and diseases. After that we got to Hall D were we learnt about some history and culture and about Polokwanes 4 museums.They told us about the Irish house were you can find information about Nelson Mandela and Albert Lutali, they also said that the museum Dutch church was built in 1986 and it is still existing today. We have learnt how African women lived and what they did back in time and they showed us some African tools. Then we went to Disaster management, they told us about certain diseases that can affect animals, like rabies, and they gave us gifts. After that we got to the South African Police, they told us about police career, how to become a police and that you were not allowed to have tattoos if you wanted to be a police. Then we had some lunch and after thereafter we were all together and went to Eskom, we learned about electricity and how it is made and produced. When we were done at Eskom we went to look at the big five, but it was not alive! Then we decided to look at some domestic animals at ARC-Animal production institute, we saw hens, chickens, goats, sheeps and cows. That was the last thing we did, we have learnt and enjoyed a lot, we had so much fun!
Today was the first day at the school for Simone; she was going to meet all the teachers and learners. When Jälla got there, everybody was waiting and they sang a song. Everyone from Jälla said their names and walked through all classrooms to say hi. After that we changed clothes and started to work in the school garden. We planted trees and we used spades to dig in the ground. Simone have introduced herself to Dolly’s friends, they are friendly and kind. Then we had lunch, we were sitting down, watching other students playing games, the Swedish students taught Lekothas students a Swedish game called the clap game. After that we walked around the school area, we compared how it looked toward Sweden, Jälla. We went back to the garden and we had some photos and talked to the school learners. We danced funny and sang some songs, we had a lot of fun and we learnt and enjoyed a lot!
Today we haven´t been together at all, just said hi and took a few photos but nothing more. Dolly has been studying until lunch and Simone was cooking the lunch together with Amanda, Ida and Rebecca. After lunch we played some soccer, first up was the Swedish girls against the South African girls, it ended 0-0, it was a very exciting game. Then the boys played, in the Swedish team there only was two Swedish boys and the rest were from Lekotha, they lost with 1-0. Dolly wasn´t playing but Simone was, it have been a fun day!
Today it was culture day and it rained all morning, Simone didn´t do anything until 10 o´clock but Dolly was in her class. Then the culture day began, first some teachers and learners from Lekotha gave speeches and African poems. The teachers and learners from Jälla were performing some traditional songs from Sweden and a little medley of Swedish music export songs and dancing. Then we got to see traditional African dance, really fun. Simone and some of the others from Jälla has joined the African adult dance. After that it was party! Last a few teachers and the principal from Lekotha gave speeches and we ended with a prayer, for our food. After lunch the party was everywhere, people were dancing and singing and having fun. Simone had to take a lot of pictures with the learners from Lekotha and she cried when she had to leave the school.
Today we have been on two museums, the first on was Bakoni Malapa were we learnt a bunch of things about African history and how they lived back in the days. We have seen traditional utensils and houses that were really small; we got to try traditional clothes who were made of animal skins. We saw old weapons and they also showed us how to make a fire. Alfred dressed up as a real warrior and ran around like he was hunting, it was fun to see. We got to go inside the kings house and the guide told us a lot of fun fact.
The second museum was The Irish House were we got to learn about Nelson Mandela and Albert Lutali during the time of apartheid. We learnt that Mandela was in prison before he became the first black president of South Africa. Albert and Nelson were too close to each other, they gave different but many speeches to set South Africans free. They even fought for us to live in a smooth freedom. We also learnt a lot about Mapungubje, the place of Jackal that was found in 1934, a place where they have found gold a long time ago. We learnt about king Sikhukhure, they told us that he was killed by his stepbrother during their fight. We got some information about Peter Mokaba stadium that has been named after Peter Mokaba, he was an athlete and a leader. We learnt about South African history and about the apartheid time until they were set free. We have enjoyed and learnt a lot of good stuff, and we ate some lunch and wrote our reports at Bolivia Lodge.
Today we were at Potteries’ church in Polokwane at Ivy Park, near Snake Park. They welcomed us and we were like VIP´s, I mean very special. They were honored to have us there and they started by singing, it was really entertaining. After that we prayed. Some people were surprised and very glad to see us, Pastor Koma was very glad to have us in his service. They sang another song and we danced and after that we had to leave, but before we left we took some group photos. We have enjoyed a lot and it was very good to learn new things, we did appreciate that.
Today we were going on a safari! The students from Lekotha came about 9 o´clock and while we waited on the safari jeeps we played some games. We left the hotel 10.30 and we started our safari. First we saw zebras and impalas in groups of maybe 5-15 in each group. After that we saw bless bocks, both white and brown ones, we also saw a lot of kudus, females and males. The males have big twisted horns and the females just have big ears. Then we saw a lion far, far away and we saw some ostriches to. Then it was time for lunch at another ranch, we ate three meals, a starter, a main course and a dessert, it was really good and tasty. After lunch we took a swim in a warm swimming pool and the Swedish learners tried to teach the learners from Lekotha to swim. Last we went to the lion walk, we saw hyenas and 3 big, male lions. We also got to see a few female lions and we took photos with three 10 month old lions. Then we got to feed and hold four super cute lion cubs, we wanted to bring them home! “They were the cutest things I’ve ever seen!” said Simone. The nature reserve was big and looked good, there was no garbage in the reserve and the animals looked like they were feeling well. This was for sure better than both of the animal parks we visited a few days ago. When we got back to Wild Thingz Ranch we wrote our reports and then we ate dinner together. Everybody cried, because this was the last day together before the Swedish learners and teachers were going home. It was the hardest day ever, nobody wanted to leave and everybody cried and hugged each other.

On second march 2013 we took a trip to Polokwane showground. When we arrived there it was very rainy so we decided to stay under a roof. After we took a walk and we got to South African Defense Force, they showed us some cocaine and told us that is was illegal. In the SADF tent, we got into the military health service, we learnt about wounds and diseases. After that we got to Hall D were we learnt about some history and culture and about Polokwanes 4 museums.They told us about the Irish house were you can find information about Nelson Mandela and Albert Lutali, they also said that the museum Dutch church was built in 1986 and it is still existing today. We have learnt how African women lived and what they did back in time and they showed us some African tools. Then we went to Disaster management, they told us about certain diseases that can affect animals, like rabies, and they gave us gifts. After that we got to the South African Police, they told us about police career, how to become a police and that you were not allowed to have tattoos if you wanted to be a police. Then we had some lunch and after thereafter we were all together and went to Eskom, we learned about electricity and how it is made and produced. When we were done at Eskom we went to look at the big five, but it was not alive! Then we decided to look at some domestic animals at ARC-Animal production institute, we saw hens, chickens, goats, sheeps and cows. That was the last thing we did, we have learnt and enjoyed a lot, we had so much fun!
Today was the first day at the school for Simone; she was going to meet all the teachers and learners. When Jälla got there, everybody was waiting and they sang a song. Everyone from Jälla said their names and walked through all classrooms to say hi. After that we changed clothes and started to work in the school garden. We planted trees and we used spades to dig in the ground. Simone have introduced herself to Dolly’s friends, they are friendly and kind. Then we had lunch, we were sitting down, watching other students playing games, the Swedish students taught Lekothas students a Swedish game called the clap game. After that we walked around the school area, we compared how it looked toward Sweden, Jälla. We went back to the garden and we had some photos and talked to the school learners. We danced funny and sang some songs, we had a lot of fun and we learnt and enjoyed a lot!
Today we haven´t been together at all, just said hi and took a few photos but nothing more. Dolly has been studying until lunch and Simone was cooking the lunch together with Amanda, Ida and Rebecca. After lunch we played some soccer, first up was the Swedish girls against the South African girls, it ended 0-0, it was a very exciting game. Then the boys played, in the Swedish team there only was two Swedish boys and the rest were from Lekotha, they lost with 1-0. Dolly wasn´t playing but Simone was, it have been a fun day!
Today it was culture day and it rained all morning, Simone didn´t do anything until 10 o´clock but Dolly was in her class. Then the culture day began, first some teachers and learners from Lekotha gave speeches and African poems. The teachers and learners from Jälla were performing some traditional songs from Sweden and a little medley of Swedish music export songs and dancing. Then we got to see traditional African dance, really fun. Simone and some of the others from Jälla has joined the African adult dance. After that it was party! Last a few teachers and the principal from Lekotha gave speeches and we ended with a prayer, for our food. After lunch the party was everywhere, people were dancing and singing and having fun. Simone had to take a lot of pictures with the learners from Lekotha and she cried when she had to leave the school.
Today we have been on two museums, the first on was Bakoni Malapa were we learnt a bunch of things about African history and how they lived back in the days. We have seen traditional utensils and houses that were really small; we got to try traditional clothes who were made of animal skins. We saw old weapons and they also showed us how to make a fire. Alfred dressed up as a real warrior and ran around like he was hunting, it was fun to see. We got to go inside the kings house and the guide told us a lot of fun fact.
The second museum was The Irish House were we got to learn about Nelson Mandela and Albert Lutali during the time of apartheid. We learnt that Mandela was in prison before he became the first black president of South Africa. Albert and Nelson were too close to each other, they gave different but many speeches to set South Africans free. They even fought for us to live in a smooth freedom. We also learnt a lot about Mapungubje, the place of Jackal that was found in 1934, a place where they have found gold a long time ago. We learnt about king Sikhukhure, they told us that he was killed by his stepbrother during their fight. We got some information about Peter Mokaba stadium that has been named after Peter Mokaba, he was an athlete and a leader. We learnt about South African history and about the apartheid time until they were set free. We have enjoyed and learnt a lot of good stuff, and we ate some lunch and wrote our reports at Bolivia Lodge.
Today we were at Potteries’ church in Polokwane at Ivy Park, near Snake Park. They welcomed us and we were like VIP´s, I mean very special. They were honored to have us there and they started by singing, it was really entertaining. After that we prayed. Some people were surprised and very glad to see us, Pastor Koma was very glad to have us in his service.
